Huis Madou involves the internal renovation and redesign of the 5th, 6th, and 7th floors of an existing office building, located along Brussels' inner ring road at Madou. The project was awarded following an architectural competition and has evolved into a highly sustainable office design based on the principle of 'New Ways of Working'.

Through an in-depth needs assessment, we succeeded in halving the number of traditional workstations. This allowed the remaining space to be designed as activity-based work areas and meeting zones to maximize knowledge exchange among employees. Warm, natural materials were used throughout to enhance the 'hygge' atmosphere and create a sense of homeliness. Suspended ceilings were avoided wherever possible to fully benefit from the floor-to-ceiling height. Technical systems were mainly installed visibly.

During the dismantling of the floors, all valuable materials were recovered and collected with the intention of reusing them in other projects, thereby reducing the need for raw material extraction. The office furniture was recycled and reworked, helping to reduce waste.
