Flying Group

The project for the construction of the new headquarters of the flight company Flyinggroup was contracted to A2D - ASK Romein after winning a Design & Build competition. The new headquarters includes offices as well as a pilot lounge, a passenger lounge, access to the flight zone and an event area.
Flyinggroup's philosophie, values and mission resulted in an inspiring vision in which concepts such as sustainability and  circularity also determined the design of the new building. The building has evolved into an energy-neutral building in which all the best available techniques are brought together to offer optimum comfort. On the outside, both the roof surface and the facades are covered with integrated solar panels that provide enough energy to cover the annual energy requirement.
The design had to meet the needs of the various functions it hosts, be sufficiently flexible to allow a multifunctional use of the spaces, and yet be clearly readable and structured so that the various flows of circulation (passengers, pilots and staff) are physically separated. The design had to provide openness, structure and clarity.
The look and feel is consistently carried through in the Flyinggroup buildings, from landside to airside. Visitors, pilots and passengers are welcomed in the reception area and directed to lounge areas finished with high-quality, warm and natural materials. Visual contacts between the various functions and circulation flows are maximized.
By working with double-height spaces and rhythmic high façade openings, there is an abundance of daylight that can penetrate to the furthest corners of the building. The office space is conceived according to the principle of ‘working differently’ in order to maximize flexibility and optimize interaction and knowledge transfer between the various employees.
