After winning the architectural competition, A2D architecture 2 design was assigned a sub-zone of a newly built model district in Merelbeke. Each subzone had its own typology and target group. A2D was selected to design 8 coupled dwellings in subzone D.
The project meets the needs of the current generation without compromising those of future generations. The houses were thouhgtfully planned, with particular attention to privacy, orientation and harmonious integration in the existing neighbourhood and its parcellation pattern. The use of sober materials contributed to this. Special attention was paid to the construction of, and relationships with green zones and public inner areas.
The design took into account the spatial capacity, the impact on the environment and the cultural, economic, aesthetic and social consequences. In this way, the design strived for spatial quality.
