In our competition proposal, we developed a forward-looking vision for the redevelopment of De Bosuiltjes primary school in Boortmeerbeek. Our proposal is based on one clear ambition: to create a green space where children can thrive, and where the local community also feels welcome. The school will not merely be a learning environment, but will evolve into an open and vibrant meeting place — a cultural hub that strengthens village life and connects it with the surrounding natural environment. The architecture translates this ambition into a clear and legible whole, in which openness, views and connectedness take centre stage. We have deliberately opted for a strategy that not only offers spatial quality, but also allows the school to be built in phases, whilst respecting the continuity of existing use.
